Outline of Training in the Lineage of
Reiki Jin Kei Do

Please note: For all levels of training, students are expected to read the book 'Reiki Jin Kei Do: The Way of Compassion & Wisdom' to aid them in their study and practice of the teachings. It is not however necessary to have read this prior to taking the training though it may help to contextualize the class material through familiarity with the basic Lineage philosophy.

The following class structure is given for UK classes only. For other countries, although the content of the class remains the same, the length of training may vary from the description given here. Please enquire for details. Fees for other countries are payable in Sterling (GBP) or US Dollars ($).

1st Degree - Foundation Level:

This is a two day class and is held from approximately 10am to 7pm on both days. Most classes are held at weekends, though mid-week classes can be arranged when required.

The class includes:

•  The history of Reiki with a particular emphasis on the Lineage of Reiki Jin Kei Do.

•  The question of 'What is Reiki?' is explored from a practical and philosophic view in some depth.

•  The nature of Reiki training and what this means in terms of individual practice and commitment.

•  Some time is given over to exploring the Reiki Principles in our lives.

•  We shall also look at how Reiki heals and how we may use Reiki in the healing process.

•  The four 1st Degree attunements are given along with an explanation of what this means for each student and their engagement with Reiki.

•  Methods of working with the Reiki energy in a therapeutic context are shown. Hand positions for treating the self and others are given along with information on what is being influenced in the recipient. Seated and table treatments are taught.

Time is spent exploring the metaphysical mind/body/energy relationships with a focus on the chakras and nadis of the human system.

•  A set of energy cultivation exercises is taught to help develop mindfulness and sensitivity to energy flow and to improve understanding of mind/body/energy relationships.

•  Meditation is focused on at various points in the class and methods are taught that help to increase awareness of and sensitivity to energy flow. Mindfulness of the activity of both mind and body is developed through basic vipassana meditation practice and a method called 'MindCheck' is taught

•  Time is also given over to the practical exploration of Reiki in a therapeutic context. You will give and receive at least two full treatments during the class.

All students are given a comprehensive set of course notes and a worksheet to cover all aspects of the teachings passed on to them. This will help you to engage fully with the teachings over the weeks following the class and perhaps guide you to further areas of study that might interest you and develop your skills. Students are expected to devote time each day for at least the following three weeks after the class to self-treatment and personal development through meditation. The sharing of Reiki treatments is also encouraged. It is important to begin the work of developing ourselves at this stage; to strengthen our connection to the Universal Energy Field via the Reiki attunements and to developing our wisdom and compassion. Each student is expected to keep a personal journal of thoughts and impressions to aid them on their journey and as a reflective aid for future reference.

A Review Evening will be held approximately three weeks after the class to discuss your familiarization and progress with Reiki. You should by this stage have completed much of the work detailed on the Worksheet given out during the class. It is important that you attend this evening if at all possible though alternative arrangements will be made for those living at a distance.

Please see the notes on Completion, Certification & On-Going Support .

Course Fee: £100. Deposit: £25 (non-refundable). £75 payable on the first day of the class.

2nd Degree - Practitioner Level:

This is a two day class and is held from approximately 10am to 7pm on both days. Most classes are held at weekends, though mid-week classes can be arranged when required.

The class includes:

•  Further exploration of the history of Reiki and the Lineage of Reiki Jin Kei Do.

•  Scientific considerations on the nature and application of Reiki energy.

•  Introduction to the Reiki Symbols, their meaning and the function of symbolism as an energetic tool.

•  Methods of working with the symbols for personal development and empowerment and the healing of the self and others are taught.

•  Working with mantra.

•  The two 2nd Degree Reiki attunements are given and time is given over to the exploration of what this means in terms of personal development and application of Reiki.

•  Meditation practice is extended and developed further. MindCheck 2 is taught.

•  Extra protocols are taught for the treatment of self and others and includes the use of marma points to aid in the effectiveness of the treatment.

•  Methods of absent healing are taught and practiced during the class.

•  Understanding of the chakra system is developed further in relation to Reiki practice.

•  Extensive information is passed on from personal experience on developing and setting up a practice as a Reiki Therapist. Ethical Codes of Conduct are discussed.

The 2nd Degree attunements increase the strength or vibration of the Reiki channelled and have the effect of stimulating the intuitive centre or Third Eye. They also impact much more directly than do the 1st Degree attunements on the etheric or 'energy'/auric body. As a consequence of receiving the Reiki symbols at this level, you will be able to engage in distant energy transmissions for the benefit of your self and others. The taking of the 2nd Degree extends the range of possible uses for Reiki enormously. It is also a strengthening of the student's commitment to Reiki as a primary tool for their own spiritual growth. All students are given a comprehensive set of course notes and a worksheet to cover all aspects of the teachings passed on to them. Students are expected to devote time each day for at least the following three weeks after the class to self-treatment and personal development through meditation. The sharing of Reiki treatments - both hands-on and distant - is also encouraged. Students are expected to continue with their personal journal in charting their progress with Reiki.

The 2nd Degree is seen as the professional Practitioner level. All students however are requested to refrain from working in a professional context with Reiki as a stand-alone therapy for a period of 3 months beyond the 2nd Degree class. This allows time for the practitioner to familiarize themselves with the course materials properly.

Course Fee: £200. Deposit: £50 (non-refundable). £150 payable on the first day of the class.

Entry Requirements for 2nd Degree:

You should have successfully completed the 1st Degree in the lineage of Reiki Jin Kei Do at least three months previously.

3rd Degree - Master Level:

The 3rd Degree in Reiki Jin Kei Do is principally for those who want to go on to teach Reiki to others. This is a serious commitment and is not a step that is suitable for everyone. To take the 3rd Degree training is to make a commitment to Reiki as a way of life and to the teachings of Reiki Jin Kei Do as an expression of your Truth. You are expected to 'walk your talk' as a Reiki Master and so only those who it is felt meet the necessary standard and degree of commitment to these teachings can be considered for this level of training.

It should be understood that the responsibility of a Reiki Master is a commitment to Reiki over and above other therapeutic systems. Some people ask if it is possible to take the Masters training without the commitment to teaching it to others. This is possible but not encouraged and does not affect the period of study or the requirements of the course programme. The Lineage sees the function of the 3rd Degree as a teaching level with Reiki Masters who are strongly committed to Reiki as their primary tool or modality and who wish to keep it complete and intact. Further, since Reiki is primarily a spiritual growth tool there must be a commitment to your own spiritual growth. Commitment to Reiki as a therapeutic method requires no more than 2nd Degree.

The 3rd Degree is offered in three distinct parts:

The first part (A) covers the personal development material given within the 3rd Degree.

The completion of Stage One (A) will give you many new methods and insights that will be useful to you on your journey to Mastership.

The second part (B ) is for those who wish to go on to teach Reiki to others.

The completion of Stage Two (B) will allow you to initiate students at 1st and 2nd Degree yourself.

The third part (C) follows on naturally from part B and is the culmination of the Masters training.

There is a requirement at the start of this stage to teach 1st and 2nd Degree classes for one year or a total of five classes at each level. The completion of Stage Three (C) will allow you to initiate new Reiki Masters.

There is no overall time frame for the 3rd Degree training - you may take as long as you wish, but guidance for work given by me must be adhered to.

Stage One (3A):

This is a two day class and is held from approximately 10am to 7pm on both days. Most classes are held at weekends, though mid-week classes can be arranged when required.

The class includes:

•  Further exploration of the history of Reiki and the Lineage of Reiki Jin Kei Do.

•  The Master attunement is given which increases the vibration of all 7 major chakras.

•  Looking deeper into the nature of spirituality and the personal commitment to this journey.

•  Master level meditation instruction is given utilizing the body's energy matrix.

•  Additional self-treatment positions are taught and practiced.

•  Point work given for the treatment of others with practice undertaken.

•  The deeper meaning of the 2nd Degree symbols is covered along with a deeper exploration of their use in meditation.

•  The Master symbol is given along with meaning and use for personal healing and spiritual growth.

•  Four special breathing methods are taught to increase sensitivity to energy flow and to increase energy focus. These prepare the student for the work of Stage Two (3B) in the giving of attunements to others.

•  MindCheck 3 is taught.

•  Extra meditation methods are given to support vipassana practice: Standing, walking, sitting meditation.

•  Brahma vihara meditation practice is introduced.

At this level students are expected to have made a substantial commitment to their own spiritual growth with Reiki now being a significant part of their lives. The Master attunement significantly increases energy flow and impacts on and increases the frequency of all the 7 major chakras - this is a very powerful process and the commitment to this should not be taken lightly. The class covers a great deal of practical work and theory in preparation for the Reiki Masters journey in guiding others on this path. All students are given a comprehensive set of course notes and a worksheet to cover all aspects of the teachings passed on to them. This will help you to engage fully with the teachings over the weeks following the class. Students are expected to devote time each day for at least the following three weeks after the class to self-treatment and personal development through meditation. Students are expected to continue with their personal journal in charting their progress with Reiki.

Please see the notes on Completion, Certification & On-Going Support.

Course Fee: £350. Deposit: £75 (£50 non refundable). £275 payable on the first day of the class.

Entry Requirements for 3rd Degree (A):

You should have completed both 1st and 2nd Degree Reiki in the Eastern Lineage of Reiki Jin Kei Do and a period of at least 12 months should have passed since your 2nd Degree class.

Stage Two (3B):

This is a two day class followed a month later by one further days training. Each day lasts from approximately 10am to 7pm . Most classes are held at weekends, though mid-week classes can be arranged when required.

The training includes:

•  Further instruction on the Master symbol is given in relation to the attunement process.

•  Instruction and practice on the giving of attunements for 1st and 2nd Degree.

•  Review of all work covered at 1st and 2nd Degree.

•  There is extensive self study work for this part of the 3rd Degree to allow students the maximum opportunity to develop their understanding of Reiki and their facility in this energy based discipline.

•  All students are expected to submit their own completed manuals and teaching notes for 1st and 2nd Degree for appraisal.

The focus of this part of the Master training is on preparing the student to teach Reiki to others. Consequently there is a great deal of self study material to be worked through that is designed to increase the overall knowledge and level of competence of the new Reiki Master. The study period for this part of the 3rd Degree can be extensive and students are expected to engage with the work and study requirements for this Stage in their own time over the months following the fact-to-face tuition sessions. During the period of training students are required to put together their own manuals and teaching notes for use in their classes and submit these for review and comment. Competence in the giving of the 1st and 2nd Degree attunements is also measured. When all work is complete and it is felt that the student is ready and capable of teaching classes of their own they are issued with a Reiki Master certificate.

Entry Requirements for 3rd Degree (B):

You should have completed both the 1st and 2nd Degree and Stage One of the 3rd Degree training (A) in the Eastern Lineage of Reiki Jin Kei Do and a period of at least 6 months should have passed since your 3rd Degree (A) class.

Stage Three (3C):

This is a one day class which lasts from approximately 10am to 7pm. Classes are arranged as required with individual students.

•  Instruction and practice on the giving of the 3rd Degree attunement.

•  Meditation instruction is given.

•  Review of issues relating to the teaching of 1st and 2nd Degree classes.

•  All students are expected to submit their own completed manuals and teaching notes for the 3rd Degree for appraisal.

This is the culmination of the Master training within Reiki Jin Kei Do. Students are expected to teach their own 1st and 2nd Degree classes for one year prior to any further formal training. During the one day class students are taught the Master attunement and further meditation instruction is given. During the period of training following the class, students are required to put together their own manuals and teaching notes for use in 3rd Degree classes and submit these for review and comment. Competence in the giving of the 3rd Degree attunement is also measured. When all work is complete and it is felt that the student is ready and capable of initiating new Reiki Masters of their own they are issued with a Reiki Master-Teacher certificate.

Completion, Certification & On-Going Support:

For all 1st , 2nd and 3rd Degree (A) classes there is a Review Evening held approximately 3 weeks after the class. This evening is considered to be a part of the formal training required to complete the course, so you are encouraged to attend. Only after you have attended the Review Evening and given feedback on your progress with Reiki will your certificate be presented. There is no automatic issuing of certificates. If you live some distance away feedback can be given over the phone, by letter or by e-mail.

For students in the UK : Once your training is complete you may wish to attend the regular monthly Reiki Support Group where on-going training and supervision of practice is given. Many if not most students find this to be very beneficial. Please not however that this meeting is for students of Reiki Jin Kei Do only.
